CBD may help your annoying cough, read along....

Coughing is a common symptom associated with various respiratory conditions, such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, and bronchitis. Cannabidiol (CBD), a non-psychoactive component of the cannabis plant, has been reported to have potential therapeutic benefits for respiratory conditions.

Several studies have investigated the effects of CBD on coughing. A study published in the Journal of Psychopharmacology found that CBD reduced the frequency of coughing in rats induced with citric acid. Another study published in the British Journal of Pharmacology found that CBD reduced the severity of coughing induced by capsaicin in guinea pigs.

A clinical study published in the Journal of Pain and Symptom Management investigated the use of nabiximols, a cannabis-based oromucosal spray containing both THC and CBD, in patients with advanced cancer and opioid-refractory pain. The study found that nabiximols reduced cough severity and frequency in these patients.

However, it is important to note that smoking cannabis, which can also contain other compounds such as terpenes, can exacerbate coughing and respiratory symptoms. One study published in the Journal of Clinical Pharmacology found that smoking cannabis increased cough frequency and severity in healthy participants.

In conclusion, while CBD has shown promise in reducing coughing in some studies, further research is needed to determine its potential therapeutic benefits for respiratory conditions. It is also important to consider the mode of consumption and potential adverse effects of cannabis use.
